OFFICE OF CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION

TRAINING
Clergy, candidates for ordination, men and women religious, employees, all catechists, as well as those volunteers who minister in programs relating to minors are required to complete safe environment training.

Training must be completed prior to beginning service for all clergy, volunteers, and employees, and at later intervals, as determined by California law and/or diocesan policies.

Training is highly recommended for lay ministry leaders, volunteers working with vulnerable adults, lay ministers of holy communion to shut-ins, parents, guardians and/or caregivers.
The diocesan required basic training includes:

Safe Environment Policy for the Protection of Children and Young People

State of California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law
Adult training concerning vulnerable adults is recommended by the USCCB Charter
Training must be renewed by June 30th of the 5th year of the training.
